Day 1 • Arlington Cemetery: Enjoy a morning of travel arriving in the afternoon at Arlington National Cemetery where we pay our respects to the soldiers lain to rest there. Later we visit the Korean, Lincoln, and Vietnam Memorials, truly inspiring sights. This evening we pay our respects at the illuminated Pentagon Memorial.
Day 2 • Smithsonian Institution: This morning we arrive at The Basilica of the National Shrine. The beauty of this shrine is sure to take your breath away. We tour the shrine, taking in the architecture, artwork, and history. Later, we visit the FDR Memorial which depicts the 12 pivotal years of FDR’s presidency through 4 outdoor gallery rooms. Then enjoy time on your own to explore the wonder of the famed Smithsonian Museums. This evening, delight to dinner included prior to a night driving tour of the lighted monuments. We stop at the WWII Memorial, the JFK Center For the Performing Arts and the Iwo Jima Memorial for a little time to look around and take pictures. (B, D)
Day 3 • Mount Vernon: This morning, we visit Mount Vernon, the home of our nation’s first president, George Washington. There is so much to see and learn here! Tour the museum to see their amazing collection of artifacts and experience the interactive exhibits. We enjoy lunch here along with a Q & A with a famous Historical Figure from the time. We then begin our journey home with a driving tour past Embassy Row. (B, L)
